Many hospitals/medical facilities offer a variety of educational benefits to nurses. Please check with the Human Resources office at your place of employment for information on their policy.
Forms requiring a signature from a School official confirming student status, enrollment dates, etc. should be brought to the Registrar’s Office (HWH 1-126) for signature. The Registrar forwards the completed form to the appropriate institution.

Scholarships and Grants
Grants are available for full or part time study for students in the RN to BS program. Contact the Office of Student Affairs. E-mail them at sonadmissions@urmc.rochester.edu or call (585)275-2375 for a complete listing of grants, eligibility requirements and application forms. Generally these grants cover tuition costs not covered by employer-based tuition benefits or other sources. For full time students financial aid awards are made by the UR Financial Aid Office. Baccalaureate students receive information directly from the Financial Aid Office about financial aid awards and re-application materials to be submitted on a yearly basis for continued funding. Any problems with financial aid awards, application materials, etc. should be forwarded to the Office of Financial Aid in Meliora Hall on River Campus. If problems are not satisfactorily resolved, please notify the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Notices about opportunities for other financial aid (e.g. Special nursing grants) may be obtained from the Administrative Assistant for Student Affairs, Room 1W126 in Helen Wood Hall, (585)275-2375. In addition, any other financial aid opportunities that become available will be reproduced and distributed directly to students. Loan Deferment requests should be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.
There is an endowment scholarship available for the RN to BS Completion Program only of up to 50% tuition reduction for Registered Nurses. Part I and II must be completed for first time applicants and Part II only should be completed thereafter. Part I form, Part II form.

The Italian Women’s Civic Club funds and administers the Dante Scholarship Program, a series of four endowed scholarships for undergraduate and graduate study at the several Rochester colleges including the University of Rochester. Loans
Aid is available through federal as well as alternative loans through third party private lenders. You will need to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) (forms for the next school year are available each January 1). You will also have to file the University of Rochester Verification Statement for either dependent or independent students. If you were born prior to January 1, 1981 you will be considered independent. If you were born after this date you will be considered a dependent student and you will have to file your parents' income and asset information on the FAFSA. You must submit appropriate copies of tax returns and W-2's with the University of Rochester Verification Statement.

Loan Repayment Programs
- Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program (NELRP)
Provides up to 60% of student loan debt for nurses who work in eligible facilities located in areas experiencing a shortage of nurses. The purpose of the NELRP is to assist in the recruitment and retention of professional nurses dedicated to providing health care to under served populations. Determination of which eligible applicants will receive an award is based on a four-tier preference scale based on the availability of funds. A person who has received a baccalaureate or associate degree in nursing, a diploma in nursing, or a graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing is eligible.
