UR Nursing to Host Inaugural Experiential Learning Summit

The University of Rochester School of Nursing proudly announces its first-ever Experiential Learning Summit, scheduled for June 6-7, 2024, at Helen Wood Hall in Rochester, New York. As leaders in nursing education innovations, the School of Nursing invites nurse educators and leaders from across the nation to join a journey of discovery in nursing education.

The Experiential Learning Summit promises two days of immersive learning and exploration, bringing together leading nurse educators and leaders to delve into the latest advances in nursing education. From mobile learning and educational technology to simulation, active learning, and competency-based education, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge practices that are shaping the future of nursing education.

"This summit presents an exceptional opportunity for nurse educators to share insights, research, and innovations with peers who are at the forefront of transforming nursing education," said Lydia Rotondo, DNP, RN, CNS, FNAP, associate dean of education & student affairs at the University of Rochester School of Nursing.

With five nursing contact hours available, participants will gain valuable knowledge and skills to enhance their teaching practices and drive excellence in nursing education. The summit will feature keynote presentations, interactive workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, providing a platform for collaboration and exchange of ideas. An Apple representative will also be presenting at the summit, discussing the integration of mobile, wearable, and immersive technologies in clinical education.

"We are committed to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in nursing education,” said Tara Serwetnyk, EdD, RN, NPD-BC, director of academic innovation at the School of Nursing. "Through this summit, we aim to empower nurse educators to leverage experiential learning methodologies and technologies to prepare the next generation of nursing professionals."

Attendees can take advantage of accommodations at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn Rochester/University & Medical Center, with discounted rates available for reservations made by Friday, May 10.
