Student Nurse Assembly
The Student Nursing Assembly (SNA) is designed to respect the unique attributes of each APNN nursing student in a supportive environment. Membership is open to all Baccalaureate students enrolled in the School of Nursing.
The goals of the organization are to:
- Promote socialization and acknowledge the unique attributes of each student in the role of student nurse,
- Facilitate communication between members of the APNN community (peers, faculty, staff, alumni, and administrators)
- Support successful transition from student nurse to professional registered nurse.
The organization is led by the SNA Leadership Council, which is comprised of elected APNN members fulfilling the following responsibilities.
SNA Council Chair
Leads the SNA in functions, responsibilities, and acts on behalf of APNN students as liaison with faculty and staff
Associate Chair of SNA
Assists SNA Council Chair with duties of the organization
Representative to the SON Undergraduate Subcommittee
Serves as student representative from APNN program to the SON's Undergraduate Subcommittee
Representative to the SON Student Affairs Committee
Serves as student representative from APNN program to the SON's Student Affairs Committee
Representative to SON Advancement and Alumni Relations
Serves as student representative from APNN program to Advancement and Alumni Relations promoting seamless transition from student to alum
Events Coordinators (2)
Assimilates needs and suggestions from SNA members into activities that facilitate class camaraderie and professional relationships
Recorder of Events & Communications Specialists
Maintains and disseminates records of all SNA meetings and assist with notification of major event
The SNA Council meets monthly to organize and implement goals of the assembly in accordance with APNN membership and community needs. Regular meetings occur with the SNA membership and the SNA leadership council. The assembly is advised by the NxSTEP (Nurses Sharing Tremendous, and Extraordinary Possibilities) facilitator-director, who reports to the APNN program director, with support from the Administrative Assistant for Student Affairs.
