Jennifer Mammen is a family nurse practitioner with nearly 20 years of clinical experience and a research interest in understanding asthma management behaviors and developing interventions to improve asthma outcomes.

Mammen's most recent work involves creating an innovative clinical intervention to improve asthma management in young adults. This program, a Technology Enabled Asthma Management System (TEAMS), combines nurse-led telemedicine with smartphone symptom monitoring to improve symptom recognition and make asthma care more accessible to patients.

While earning her PhD from the UR School of Nursing, she worked as a research assistant on several National Institutes of Health-funded asthma self-management studies. Her dissertation, "Teens' Experiences of Asthma Self-Management," explored how teens perceive and manage their asthma, and compared self-management techniques between minority and non-minority teens with controlled and uncontrolled asthma. Her findings were published in the Journal of Asthma, the leading journal publishing clinical research on the condition.
