Chen, DG, PhD, Dungang Liu and Heping Zhang were invited to do a talk during the 2013 Joint Statistical Meeting, Relative efficiency for random-effects meta-analysis using summary statistics and individual patient date, on August 7 in Montreal, Canada.      

Sally Norton, PhD has been invited and has accepted to Co-Chair the National Palliative Care Initiative On Measuring What Matters. A joint task force comprised of members from the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association and American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine to undertake a consensus project to identify a recommended panel of measures for all palliative care programs.

Sally Norton is serving as a member of the External Scientific Advisory Board for a recently funded T32-Symptom Management and Palliative Care Research in Adults with  Advanced Disease at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University.

Susan Groth, PhD, RN, WHNP-BC, FAANP assistant professor of nursing, has been awarded the March of Dimes Margaret Comerford Freda “Saving Babies, Together” awarded from the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses. Erin Baylor has graduated from Chatham University, where Erin was awarded the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree on May 20, 2013. Erin’s capstone work was Evidence-based debriefing strategies to facilitate critical thinking in nursing students and improve patient safety.

Carolanne Bianchi was awarded the Research Poster Award for Epsilon Xi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International for her poster “Identifying How to Facilitate Use of the NICHE Protocol to Maintain Functioning Through Walking” at the Sigma Theta Tau Epsilon Xi celebration on Tuesday, May, 7.
