Some arrive with years of clinical experience already. Some arrive having made their marks in totally unrelated fields but want to be nurses or leaders in other areas of health care.
Compassionate
School of Nursing students work with the sick and the elderly, with abused women and injured children, and have been honored for their service to the community, the needy, and the underserved.
Diverse
Students are male and female. Single, married, and with families. Just in their twenties or late in their fifties. They can be Asian, African-American or Hispanic, and come from the U.S. military, the corporate world, the medical community or around the globe. Career backgrounds of students changing careers have included a mathematician, a pianist, a graphic illustrator, a private investigator. Our students have included midwives and ministers, programmers and authors, soldiers and entrepreneurs – and lots of nurses who want to take their careers further.
Focused
Students ready to give total concentration fill the School’s intensive accelerated programs. Students in other programs are no less dedicated. Some pursue degrees while working full time, taking care of a family or both. Others are engaged in research that will make a difference in patients’ lives, even while they earn advanced degrees.
