The University of Rochester School of Nursing’s founding dean, Dr. Loretta Ford, co-created the nurse practitioner role more than 50 years ago, paving the way for advanced nursing education, transforming the profession, and elevating the role of nurses and nurse practitioners. That pioneering spirit continues as UR nurses shape the future of nursing.
Today, the School continues its long tradition of anticipating and addressing emerging needs in healthcare, leading innovation, and elevating the profession.
