RWJ Scholars Round Three

John Cleghorn:

Originally from Ohio, I relocated to the Rochester area a little over two years ago. I currently work as a Patient Care Technician at Unity Hospital where I not only gained valuable experience, but found a deep satisfaction in the nursing field. I enjoy playing golf, doing projects around the house, and watching Ohio State football. Down the road, I hope to continue my education and find myself in a place where I can blend my passion to practice patient care and teach others along away.

Clara Ho:

I am native to New York, and have been living here most of my life. After graduating with a undergraduate degree in biology I worked in various paid and volunteer positions in a laboratory, as an office assistant, and disability coordinator. I'm extremely interested in pursuing a career in direct patient care in nursing, and look forward to meeting all of you!

Jeremy Hollick:

I have lived in Rochester since I was 6. I worked as a CNA for 6 years after high school before getting side-tracked into IT. I received a BS in Applied Systems and Network Administration from RIT. I am returning to healthcare and eventually, would like to pursue my MS and Nurse Practitioner in one of my areas of interest. I am primarily interested in Acute Care, Emergency/Trauma, Perinatal/Neonatal care, or possibly Anesthesia, however I would like to do my rotations and work for a while before deciding on a specialty for my NP. I am a volunteer Firefighter with Fishers Fire Department and run both fire and EMS calls in my spare time.

Jessica Lumley:

I am from Orange County, California. I recently graduated from Cal State University Fullerton with a BS in health science. I have lived in Orange County all my life so I'm excited to live in a new place and start the BSN program. I look forward to meeting you all!

Matt Messinger:

I was born in New Jersey where I lived until I was 17 and my family moved to Saratoga Springs, NY. I got my Bachelor of Science from SUNY Plattsburgh were I majored in Expeditionary Studies (concentration in rock climbing) and a minor in business. For the past 5 years I have been working at the Double H Ranch, which was founded by Paul Newman, and is a camp for children with life threatening and chronic illnesses. I enjoy being outside, hiking, rock climbing, skiing and traveling.

Delphine Muyang:

I was born and raised in the North West of Cameroon, West Africa. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Botany from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. I went ahead and earned a Master’s degree in the University of Buea, Cameroon. I worked as a Botanist with a Conservation NGO after which I went and obtained another Master’s degree in Nature Conservation and Biodiversity Management from the Saxion Ijselland University, The Netherlands. When I moved to Rochester I had a renewed perspective, to become a Nurse. I am currently a Certified Nurse Assistant and my goal is to make a difference in the life of people. I’m confident that the SON ACC-BS program is the right place for me. I love to cook both traditional and exotic foods and I look forward to meeting my classmates.

Sarah Wicks:

I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2006 with a BS in Biopsychology and Cognitive Sciences. Since graduation I have been working at the University of Illinois at Chicago doing neuropsychology research on HIV and drug abuse. Outside of work, I enjoy sports, being outside, traveling, reading, spending time with family and friends and volunteering. I look forward to pursuing a career in nursing.
