WHY ROCHESTER

Meaningful career experiences. Shaped by mentorship. Rooted in Rochester.

A passion for improving the lives of cancer survivors and their families led Assistant Professor Meghan Underhill and postdoctoral researcher Yuri Choi '25N (PhD) to Rochester from previous nursing roles in Boston and Seoul. The nurse scientists formed a lasting mentor-advisor connection that has continued to grow through their shared research interests at the NCI-Designated Wilmot Cancer Institute, and the sense of community they have found in a new city.
Matthew Drew '24N (MS) found a passion for cardiology during his clinicals as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner student, with help from his preceptor and advisor, Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing Rebecca Tucker. Now, Drew and Tucker are co-workers on the same unit, giving back to their community as NPs at Strong Memorial Hospital's Heart Center. The two longtime Rochester residents share their journeys into nursing, and what makes this region special to them.
