Bio

Beth Anson is an award-winning researcher who has more than two decades of experience at the University of Rochester School of Nursing. Specializing in research design, data management, and statistical analysis, she has co-authored dozens of research publications covering such areas the effects of a nurse home visitation intervention for first time mothers, asthma management, in-dwelling catheter use, and postpartum depression.

Anson joined the UR School of Nursing in 1997 as a data control clerk and served as information analyst and senior information analyst before joining the faculty in 2008. She was awarded the Ellen Rude Clore Excellence in Research Writing Award in 2005 for a Journal of Pediatric Health Care article: "The Language of Breathlessness: Do families and health care providers speak the same language when describing asthma symptoms?" That same year, she also received a first-place award for outstanding student paper in maternal and child health from the American Public Health Association for her paper: "Relationship Between Verbal Ability, Maternal Depression, and Physically Aggressive Behavior Among Children."

Anson earned her associate degree from Monroe Community College and her B.A. in psychology from SUNY Geneseo. She received her M.S. in human development from the University of Rochester in 2006 and completed her PhD in human development in 2022 examining developmental trajectories of physical aggression in early childhood and the relationship with adolescent violence.
