Bio

Joy Lent, EdD, BS, RN, CNEcl, is an assistant professor of clinical nursing at the University of Rochester School of Nursing, bringing over two decades of combined experience in education and nursing to her role. Lent began her career teaching secondary health education for 10 years after studying at the State University of New York at Brockport. Inspired by a desire to merge her passion for teaching and healthcare, she pursued both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing, then practiced for eight years as a surgical oncology nurse at Wilmot Cancer Institute.

Her dedication to advancing nursing education led her to join the University of Rochester School of Nursing faculty, where she has taught in undergraduate and graduate programs for more than nine years. She completed her Doctorate in Higher Education, Educational Leadership in 2022, focusing her scholarship on capstone experiences and the transition to professional nursing practice. Lent is recognized for her commitment to student success, clinical excellence, and leadership development in nursing.
