Her portfolio encompasses academic program operations, curriculum and educational innovation, faculty development and workload, student progression, program evaluation, accreditation, and strategic planning.
Brophy has held several progressive academic leadership positions at the University of Rochester, including associate dean for undergraduate education, assistant dean for education, and co-director of the accelerated nursing programs. Throughout these roles, she has led initiatives focused on curriculum transformation, academic quality, faculty development, student success, and the expansion and sustainability of nursing education programs. Her work increasingly focuses on addressing nursing workforce challenges through innovative educational models and academic-practice partnerships.
A significant area of Brophy’s leadership and scholarship is the development, evaluation, and dissemination of initiatives designed to strengthen the nursing workforce. She has played a leadership role in the University of Rochester Nursing Scholars program, an academic-practice workforce initiative designed to expand access to nursing education, strengthen the regional nursing workforce, and create sustainable pathways from nursing education to practice. Her scholarly interests include nursing education leadership, workforce development and sustainability, faculty workload and retention, program evaluation, educational innovation, and academic-practice partnerships.
A nurse for more than three decades, Brophy brings extensive clinical and operational experience to her academic leadership. Her nursing career has included direct patient care across a variety of acute care settings as well as leadership roles in perioperative and emergency nursing management. This combination of clinical practice, business expertise, and academic leadership informs her approach to developing educational programs that are responsive to the evolving needs of students, healthcare organizations, and the nursing workforce.
