Bio

KC Clevenger, PhD, CPNP, joined the Wilmot Cancer Institute in December, 2017 as its new chief nursing officer and as associate chief nursing officer for Oncology Nursing at Strong Memorial Hospital. For the past 20 years, Dr. Clevenger has built her career in clinical nursing, research, and leadership at the University of Colorado and its affiliate Children's Hospital Colorado. She developed a formal Nurse Scientist program including the first Research Fellowship for the Division of Nursing and provided leadership and direction for nurse initiated research and grant support. She co-developed the Colorado Nurse Scientist Partnership for EBP and Research Training and Education and is a member of the Advisory Board for the National Pediatric Nurse Scientist Collaborative.

In her role as CNO, she oversees Wilmot’s more than 350 nurses, including the regional operation, and will help expand both the research nurse structures and the nurse initiated research programs. She also holds a faculty appointment with the University of Rochester School of Nursing and will help develop a strong nurse scientist presence and research infrastructure for nurse-led research at Wilmot.
