Bio
Sheniece Martin-Stancil-El, DNP, RN, CNL, currently serves as the nursing director for diversity, equity, and inclusion at the University of Rochester Medical Center and an assistant professor of clinical nursing. As nursing director, she plays a pivotal role in spearheading initiatives, leadership programs, and recruitment strategies related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. She also works with the Rochester Black Nurses Association on various programming and workshops.
Martin-Stancil-El has been recognized for her significant contributions to the health care sector and academia, receiving awards such as the 2022 Rochester Black Nurses Association Nurse Pioneer Award and the National Black Nurses Association Under 40 Award. Additionally, she is a recipient of the HANYS' eCornell Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship. As a sought-after speaker, Martin-Stancil-El has shared her expertise on panels and presentations, covering vital topics like "Diabetes and Hypertension Overview" and "Advancing Your Career: Building on the CNL Skill Set." She has also taught critical subjects, including "Cultural Humility," "Unconscious Bias," and "Transitioning to the LPN Role."
Martin-Stancil-El's dedication extends to various committees and councils, where she holds key positions, including the chair of the Nursing Practice Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Advisory Council. She is involved with groups such as DNPs of Color and the United Way African American Leadership Development Program, National Black Nurses Association, Rochester Chapter Board Member, has completed the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Online Certificate program, and is an inducted 2022 Class of Fellows of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. She also contributes to the community through her volunteer work, serving as a Sheikess, an Islamic faith leader, as the Secretary and Treasurer for the Moorish Science Temple of America Inc Syracuse Branch Temple 11.
A two-time alumna of the University of Rochester School of Nursing, Martin-Stancil-El earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2021, a master's degree in clinical nursing leadership in 2019, and a bachelor's degree in nursing in 2010 from St. John Fisher (College) University
