Bio

Sukardi Suba, PhD, RN, is a tenure-track assistant professor at the University of Rochester School of Nursing. He earned his PhD in nursing from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he explored the clinical significance of arrhythmia alarms generated from continuous ECG monitoring in adult ICU patients and their impact on nurses’ alarm fatigue. Suba completed a two-year postdoc at University of Rochester, with a focus on enhancing the timeliness of coronary angiography for patients with acute coronary syndrome.

His research objectives are primarily dedicated to improving cardiovascular care that encompasses specific areas of endeavor: (1) utilizing statistical learning approach to advance the diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic values of electrocardiogram (ECG), and (2) leveraging electronic health record (EHR) data to advance our knowledge and understanding of the progression of cardiovascular diseases and to inform strategies and development of predictive analytical methods for early detection of cardiovascular events to improve patient outcomes.

His research findings have been widely disseminated through high-impact peer-reviewed journals, and he actively contributes as a member of the American Heart Association, International Society for Computerized ECG, Sigma Theta Tau, and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Recently, Suba joined as a contributor for the ECG Puzzler, a regular feature in the American Journal of Critical Care that addresses clinical ECG interpretation.
