Chen Zhang Named a 2018 Health Disparities Research Institute Scholar

Chen Zhang, PhD, MPH, a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Rochester School of Nursing, has been named a 2018 Health Disparities Research Institute Scholar by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities.

Chen ZhangZhang was chosen to participate in the Health Disparities Research Institute (HDRI) July 23-27 in Bethesda, Maryland, after a competitive review of applicants’ professional background and educational achievements and their potential for success in health disparities research.

The HDRI supports the research career development of promising minority health/health disparities research scientists early in their careers and provides scholars with opportunities to meet with National Institutes of Health (NIH) scientific staff engaged in health disparities research. Participants will also attend lectures, take part in small-group discussions, mock grant reviews, and seminars.

Zhang, who earned her PhD from Vanderbilt University, has focused her academic career in medicine, social science, and epidemiology. She has participated in several NIH-funded projects focused on behavioral and biomedical interventions among vulnerable populations.
