The World Health Organization has designated 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife.

Many in the nursing field are reflecting on what has changed in the healthcare field in the Finger Lakes region, while also keeping an eye on what lies in the future.

One of the major challenges ahead is filling vacancies.

There are far more roles for nurses today than ever before, according to Hazel Robertshaw, vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer for UR Medicine Thompson Health.
