In the February issue of our CoDEI newsletter, we honor Black History Month — a national observance that recognizes the achievements, contributions, and enduring impact of Black individuals and communities throughout history. First established as Negro History Week in 1926 and expanded to a month-long celebration in 1976, Black History Month invites us to reflect on both progress and the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice. This year, we center the voices, experiences, and leadership of our Black colleagues, students, neighbors, and community members, while acknowledging the systemic challenges that persist. As we celebrate resilience, excellence, and cultural contributions, we also reaffirm our commitment to fostering a more inclusive and equitable environment for all.
