John Eaves, MBA, a finance leader with more than 10 years of experience at the University, has been appointed associate dean for finance and operations at the University of Rochester School of Nursing. Eaves has been serving as interim associate dean since September.

“John has a proven track record of ensuring the School’ fiscal health while pursuing new initiatives and strategic investments, which will be critical to our future as a leader in nursing education, research, and practice,” said Dean Lisa Kitko, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN. “I am confident that his financial expertise and dedication to the School will serve us well.”

“This is an exciting time to reassess and realign our financial and operational strategy with our core goals and objectives, while embracing the opportunities that lie ahead in nursing, higher education, and health care.”

In his role as associate dean, Eaves will serve as senior advisor to Dean Kitko and work collaboratively with School of Nursing leadership to provide oversight and strategy on operating and capital budgets, resource management, and monitoring mission-based performance metrics. He will also oversee the School’s administrative functions, including finance, IT, personnel, and communications.

Adam Anolik, chief financial officer at the University of Rochester Medical Center, said John is a skilled leader whose conscientious and personable approach make him well-respected with leadership and peers across the School and University.

“John is not only a very talented financial executive, but he also has a keen ability to ensure decisions are made consistent with strategic priorities,” said Anolik. “We are fortunate to have him in this pivotal role.”

Prior to this appointment, Eaves served as the School’s chief financial officer, overseeing financial reporting and budgeting across the School’s education, research, practice, and administrative missions.

“I am eager to collaborate with colleagues across the school, University, and Medical Center to continue our progress to advance the School of Nursing’s missions,” said Eaves. “This is an exciting time to reassess and realign our financial and operational strategy with our core goals and objectives, while embracing the opportunities that lie ahead in nursing, higher education, and health care.”

Eaves earned his master’s in business administration from the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester and his bachelor’s in corporate finance and political science from St. John Fisher College. He succeeds Renu Singh, who retired from the role in December.
