UR Nursing Researchers Represent Rochester at ENRS Scientific Sessions

Several faculty, staff, and doctoral students from the University of Rochester School of Nursing presented their latest research and scholarly projects at the Eastern Nursing Research Society’s annual Scientific Sessions in Philadelphia.
Rochester representatives disseminated studies from a wide range of research areas, including maternal and child health, palliative care, nursing workforce issues, and more.
Podium Presenters:
- PhD candidate Yuri Choi, MSN, RN, presented “Acceptability and Feasibility of Using a Microsampling Device for At-Home Blood Collection for Clinical Research Studies.”
- PhD student Sudhir Kumar Mummidi '22N, MBBS, RN, presented “The Feasibility of a Serial 12-lead ECG Wireless Patch in the Hospital Setting.”
Poster Session Presenters:
- PhD student Pam Brashich, RN, presented “The Relationship Between Lactation and Adipokines” and “Postpartum Truncal Fat Distribution: Does Lactation Make a Difference?”
- PhD student Lea Brown, MSN, RN, NPD-BC, presented “Post-Licensure Nurse Competence in the US: A Concept Clarification.”
- PhD student Emmanuel Dapilah presented “Maternal Factors Related to Childhood Obesity in Ghana: A Scoping Review.”
- PhD student Kofi Gyasi and Senior Associate Dean for Research Sally Norton, PhD, RN, FNAP, FPCN, FAAN, presented “Factors Associated with Knowledge and Attitudes Toward Palliative and Care for the Dying Among Undergraduate Nursing Students.”
- Gyasi also presented “Healthcare Clinicians Perspectives and Current Practices Regarding Serious Illness Communication Among Patients with Advanced Cancers.”
- Alexis Munding '17N (MS), '25N (DNP) presented “Redesigning Hospital Medicine Workflow to Optimize Safe Discharge Practices for Patients Who Leave Against Medical Advice,” her recent scholarly project for the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
