Bio
Kaitlyn Picard started her nursing career on an adult burn/trauma intensive care unit at Strong Memorial Hospital. Since joining the School of Nursing faculty in 2019, Picard has taught in both the school’s 12-month Accelerated Bachelor’s Program for Non-Nurses (APNN) and the Master’s in Nursing Education program. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Picard coordinates instructional design support for the APNN program as a member of the Education Innovation Team, mentors and advises Master’s in Nursing Education students, and serves on several school committees. Picard has assisted with implementing active learning strategies and digital technologies, supported by the SON’s iROC (Redefining Our Classroom) initiative, in the APNN program and has presented nationally on the innovations. She was the recipient of the 2021 Josephine Craytor Nursing Faculty Award and the 2022 Outstanding Faculty Award.
After earning a BS in Neuroscience & Psychology from Baldwin-Wallace College, Picard continued her education at the University of Rochester School of Nursing where she earned a BS in Nursing and MS in Nursing Education. She also earned a Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning from the University of Rochester Warner School of Education. She is a member of the National League for Nursing, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, American Association of Colleges of Nursing, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society.
