Bio
Through her roles as an assistant professor in the Accelerated Bachelor’s and Master’s in Nursing Education programs, Lauren Lee focuses on fostering inclusive learning environments and preparing nurses for professional practice and leadership. Drawing on a diverse clinical background that includes experience as a registered nurse in Interventional Psychiatry, Medical ICU, Urgent Care, and statewide COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts, she brings a strong commitment to patient-centered care and student success.
Lee received the Professional Advancement Award in 2022 for her efforts to advance the goals and enrollment of the Master's in Nursing Education program by developing and implementing the new role of Experiential Learning Coordinator to support MNE students and preceptors. Her teaching focuses on foundational nursing skills and supporting graduate students in developing professional identity as they transition into nurse educator roles. A two-time graduate of the School of Nursing (ABSN ’11, MNE ’19), Lauren received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2022 in recognition of her ongoing commitment to students. She is expected to earn her Doctor of Education from the Warner School in May.
Current Focus
My main academic interests include teaching nurses the foundational skills of Nursing Health Assessment and helping to develop or revise curriculum as identified by the school's leadership team.
I am also responsible for the development and implementation of a standardized process to facilitate the experiential learning placements between preceptor and student in the Master's in Nursing Education program. This involves managing 100 students with a 400-hour requirement per student over the course of their program. This process not only allows the placements to be more meaningful for the student learning, but also gives me the opportunity to get to know, early on, what the student's goals are so we can tailor their student teaching experiences to their interests. Informally, I also serve as an advisor for many students over the years.
