As a means of supporting University of Rochester nurses and addressing workforce needs at University of Rochester health care facilities, the School of Nursing is offering an exciting opportunity for employees.
The SON Tuition Grant, together with UR employee tuition benefits, covers the full cost of tuition for employees who enroll in select bachelor's and master's degree programs listed below. The SON Tuition Grant is available to UR employees who apply and enroll by Summer 2025.

RN to BS Online Program
Complete your bachelor’s degree at your own pace to enhance your skills as a nurse and advance your nursing career. The RN to BS program is a 100% online program that features an iPad device to complete coursework and meet with professors. You may also consider earning both your bachelor's and master's degree through the SON Tuition Grant with the RN to BS to MS program.
It’s scary to start, but once you start - at the end of the tunnel is always the light and the sky is the limit. If I can make it, anybody can do it!
Clinical Nurse Leader Program
Become a leader by earning your master’s degree as a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL). As system thinkers and change agents, CNLs influence the way health care and patient care is delivered. Our CNL graduates, equipped to put evidence-based practice into action, lead the way as care coordinators, clinical informaticists, unit educators, program coordinators, nurse managers, and nurse executives.
Ultimately, it made me become a better leader because I was not just doing things because that was just what we’re supposed to do as a manager, as a leader now I know why, and now I know how.
Nursing Education Program
Earn your master's or post-master's degree in nursing education with this hybrid online, part-time program. The Nursing Education program is designed for experienced working nurses who want to transition to a teaching role, either as a nurse educator or in patient safety and education.
I realized the only thing I was more passionate about than nursing was being a nurse educator. Being in the program actually gave me a lot of confidence as a teacher.
Leadership in Health Care Systems Program
Earn your master's or post-master's degree with a focus on leadership in health care systems. This hybrid online, part-time program will help you sharpen your skills as a manager or leader and learn best practices to assure efficient, quality, and safe patient care delivery.
Whatever leadership qualities that I can bring for my patients to have improved health, that’s the goal of my education. The coursework has just been right on par for what I’m dealing with on a daily basis.
