Description: | Methamphetamine use has been linked to increased rates of HIV transmission among men who have sex with men. We have witnessed an steadily increasing prevalence of crystal methamphetamine use among MSM since 2011, which has disproportionately impacted Black MSM across New York State. Information on these trends among New Yorkers who do not live in New York City or surrounding areas is virtually non-existent. To fill the knowledge gap, inform future research, and implement appropriate service provisions we propose to: 1) Explore the facilitators and protective factors for initiating and continuing crystal meth use among a sample of 20 Black men who have sex with men residing in New York State; and 2) Identify approaches, methods, strategies and resources that Black MSM utilize to reduce crystal meth use and related harms. |
