|Principal Investigator:||Ying Xue, DNSc,RN|
The study will investigate state scope-of-practice regulation, nurse practitioner workforce supply, and patient access to care in rural and primary care health professional shortage areas. Findings of the study will have significant implications for addressing 6 of 9 national goals for access to health services outlined in Healthy People 2020, the national 10-year goals and objectives for improving the health of all Americans. The study will also provide instructive information to state legislators and stakeholders on developing effective regulatory and health policy directives and levers to expand access to care in underserved areas.
