NUR 396 - VOLUNTEER COMMUNITY OUTREACH

0 credits

Description:

Street Outreach is an organization composed of nursing and medical students who round on sites in the city of Rochester where people experiencing homelessness are known to reside. Rounds focus on outreach, education, and medical assistance. Students work to rebuild trust between people experiencing homelessness and the medical system at large, educate on topics such as nutrition and chronic conditions, provide basic first aid, and connect people with local healthcare resources. Students going out on rounds are supported by a trained student rounds leader and have access to an on-call provider at all times.
