NP Licensure & National Certification

The Nurse Practitioner programs are designed to satisfy the academic requirements for licensure as an NP within the State of New York. Additionally, the nurse practitioner programs are designed to prepare students for national certification within an area of specialty practice (see specific national certifications on specialty pages).

Federal regulations require that all colleges and universities disclose whether their programs leading to professional licensure will meet educational requirements for licensure in each state. Requirements for licensure vary from state to state.

Preparing for NP licensure in another state

Requirements for licensure vary from state to state. Prospective and current students who intend to apply for licensure in a state other than New York are encouraged to contact the state board of nursing in that state to determine if our program meets all licensing requirements in that state.
