- In this course, students explore nurse practitioner roles using the core competencies of advanced practice nursing as the foundation for professional development. The curriculum emphasizes theoretical foundations, scope of practice, and professional ethics to guide the role transition necessary for safe, high-quality, patient-centered clinical practice. By examining regulatory and economic policies and understanding the use of informatics affecting advanced practice nursing, students begin to develop leadership and advocacy skills necessary for collaborative change in today’s rapidly expanding, complex healthcare system. Students are introduced to valuable tools and resources, such as clinical reflective practice, scholarly writing, professional organizations, and journals, to support professional development and life-long learning.
