Description:

In this course, nurse practitioner students study the physiological and pathophysiological processes foundational for advanced practice nursing. The focus is on regulatory mechanisms that maintain homeostasis and the clinical problems that arise in the pathophysiological state across the lifespan. Attention is given to etiology, pathogenesis, determinants of health, and clinical manifestations of major health problems. The interrelationships between clinical pathophysiology and basic physiology are discussed at the genetic, cellular, organ, and multi-organ system levels.
