Description:
This course provides students with a biopsychosocial framework to guide advanced psychiatric mental health nursing practice with persons of various ages and cultural backgrounds. Students develop knowledge and skills essential for the comprehensive assessment, formulation, and differential diagnosis of major psychiatric and substance use disorders based on accepted taxonomies. Students examine medical, developmental, and other factors contributing to psychiatric symptomatology and alterations in biopsychosocial functioning, with attention to supporting health and recovery. Students explore professional issues that impact advanced psychiatric mental health nursing practice.
