NUR 364 - Biopsychosocial Health Assessment of Individual and Family

3 credits ( 2 didactic credits / 1 lab credit )


This online course builds upon previous courses in the bio-psychosocial sciences. Core concepts focus on history taking and physical examination techniques in a cross-cultural context.  Using a systems approach, focused and comprehensive assessments of “well clients” throughout the lifespan are addressed. Students will have the opportunity to describe findings in written assignments as well as demonstrate skills through videotaped assessments. In addition, this course explores assessment of family violence and cultural and spiritual beliefs pertaining to health and illness. Lastly, students will explore concepts of health promotion and risk reduction by utilizing teaching strategies to address patient and family educational needs.
