NUR 514 - Grant Writing and Proposal Development

NUR 510,511,555,515,512,518,513, and 507 or permission of instructor

 

Description:

The course will provide students an opportunity to integrate foundational knowledge from prior core courses including research design, methods, theory, and statistics to develop a significant, feasible and ethical research study. The primary foc us is on teaching the fundamentals of grant proposal writing, emphasizing NIH grant formats and requirements. Key topics include framing the research questions, formatting specific aims, constructing a research strategy, addressing human subjects protection, and preparing supporting sections of a grant application.  Students will develop and refine a complete research proposal in stages with peer and instructor feedback. The course is structured to enable students to produce a high-quality proposal aligned with their dissertation research that draws on current substantive literature and prepares them for future funding opportunities.
