NLX 431 - Foundations of Simulation-Based Education

Description:

In this course, students will explore foundational principles of simulation-based education in academic, clinical, and community environments. Utilizing standards of best practice in simulation design from international simulation organizations, students will learn the facets of simulation design and facilitation. Safe practices in simulation will be examined, including ethical, psychological, racial, and social justice considerations. Students will actively participate in running human patient simulators, designing moulage, and examining operational needs including budgetary and staffing components. Curricular alignment of simulations and student assessment methods will be reviewed, and current trends and future directions of simulation will also be explored.
