NPG 450 - Theoretical Foundations for the PMHNP

Description:

This course introduces students to common theoretical frameworks used to explain personality development, human behavior, the etiology of psychopathology, and mechanisms of therapeutic change associated with major schools of psychotherapy. Students learn the importance of theory as the foundation of advanced psychiatric mental health nursing practice, including for the construction of biopsychosocial formulation to guide clinical decision-making and care. Students gain experience in analyzing and applying theories considering current evidence, professional standards, and cultural implications.
