NSG 325 - Addressing Childhood Obesity for the Health Care Professional

Description:

In this course, students learn about effective treatment plans for obesity in childhood with a focus on family engagement in a variety of settings reflecting family needs.  The curriculum for this course is based on current scientific evidence used to develop national expert recommendations and clinical practice guidelines for addressing obesity in childhood, including social and structural determinants of health. Students will develop comprehensive screening, assessment, and intervention skills specific to obesity in childhood based on clinical research and evidence. Students will gain an understanding of current obesity-related public policies and community approaches and their impact on obesity in childhood.
