Why Take Our Legal Nurse Consultant Course?

Are you a nurse looking to expand your practice? Legal nurse consultants provide assistance to a variety of professionals in law firms, government offices, and insurance companies. You’ll analyze health care facts, issues, and outcomes for those in the legal and health care professions and act as a liaison between the legal and health care communities.

In this course, you'll learn from local health care and legal expert, Alexa Schneider, PhD, RN, FNP, LNCC, who will share her expertise teaching the weekly course. The UR School of Nursing Legal Nurse Consultant course:

  • offers a unique internship experience working on real cases
  • prepares nurses to improve patient care in their current roles
  • provides an opportunity to learn and network with experts in the legal, insurance, and nursing fields
  • provides vital, practical knowledge on using nursing expertise in collaboration with legal experts

The course takes about six months to complete (two semesters) and features a weekly course over five weeks and a 168-hour internship. After 2,000 hours of practice, eligible LNCs can complete a certification exam to become Legal Nurse Consultant Certified.
