Accelerated Bachelor's Program for Non-Nurses

Prerequisite Requirements

The Accelerated Programs for Non-Nurses offer a unique and immersive education experience to help you succeed in the field of nursing. To apply for the ABPNN or AMPNN programs, completion of prerequisite courses with a grade of C or higher is required (labs not required) in:

  • Anatomy and Physiology I and II
  • Microbiology
  • Nutrition
  • Human Growth & Development
  • Statistics 

The School of Nursing offers these prerequisites as online courses at a discounted flat fee. You can complete these requirements in just 4 to 15 weeks before you begin the program.

(Please note: You may register for a course as a non-matriculated student at any time, before or during applying to the Accelerated Programs for Non-Nurses. If you have a course still outstanding in the final semester before the program begins, we prefer that you take the course through our online prerequisites.)

Prerequisite Deadlines

Depending on where you take your prerequisites, the deadline to complete these courses are as follows: 

UR School of Nursing Other Accredited School (see below)
  • by the first day of school
  • end of the fall semester prior to May entrance
  • end of the summer semester prior to the January entrance
  • end of the spring semester prior to September entrance.

Other Accredited Schools

If you choose to complete your prerequisites elsewhere, we require they be taken at a two- or four- year accredited school. The regional accreditations we accept (depending on location) include:
