How to Apply to the Accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing program
We are excited to support your journey to a rewarding nursing profession with the Accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing (ABSN) programs at the University of Rochester.
The School of Nursing uses a comprehensive, holistic review process during which each application receives individual consideration. We seek applicants who:
- clearly understand the role of the nurse,
- are motivated and prepared to pursue an intensive, full-time program of study,
- and are committed to upholding the values of the school and the profession.
Below, find details about how to successfully submit an application to the 12-Month or 24-Month Accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing Programs (ABSN) to earn a second bachelor's degree.
Application Deadlines
We enroll a new cohort for the Accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing programs every semester. All supplemental materials must be postmarked by midnight of the deadline.

Program Eligibility
To be eligible for the 12-Month or 24-Month Accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing Programs, applicants must:
- have a bachelor’s degree in a field other than nursing from an accredited school
- have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 from the most recent relevant degree
- successfully complete the prerequisite course requirements before starting the program
- be proficient in the English language (international applicants must demonstrate English proficiency)
Application Requirements
To submit a complete application, create an account to complete all sections of the online application. In addition, upload or submit required materials:
- Official transcripts from all schools attended
- Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional references
- If you have graduated from your previous academic program within the last five years, at least one letter from academic reference is required
- If it has been longer than five years since you graduated, you may include letters of recommendation from either academic or professional references
- Current resume or CV
- TOEFL, IELTS, or DET scores for international applicants who are non-native English speakers
