Advanced Certificate in Nursing Education with Education Focus (PMC-E)

This 18-credit, five-course certificate program is designed for APRNs (NPs, CNSs, CNLs) who wish to obtain educational courses and skills for practice as an academic or clinical nurse educator. The program must be started in the fall semester and will conclude at the end of the following fall semester. In order to complete the program in four semesters, students must take two courses during either of the fall semesters. First fall semester must start with Warner School of Education course EDU 497. Students must be available for a one day mandatory in class session for EDU 497, typically during the first week in September.

NLX 517: Teaching and Learning in Nursing 3 credits
These in-person foundational education courses are often taken together in the fall semester.
Spring EDU 581: Clinical Teaching in the Health Care Professions - Teaching and Instructional Methods 4 credits
This hybrid-online course includes 56 hours (1 credit) of precepted student teaching in the student's clinical area or area of expertise/interest.
Summer

NLX 426: Curriculum Development and Course Design

4 credits
This hybrid-online course includes 56 hours (1 credit) of precepted student teaching work designing in-person or online courses, modules, professional development seminars, or formal educational offerings for nursing staff or nursing students in the student's clinical area or area of expertise/interest.
Fall NLX 427: Assessment and Evaluation in Nursing Education 4 credits
This hybrid-online course includes 56 hours (1 credit) of precepted student teaching work designing, interpreting or developing assessments or accreditation materials for nursing staff or nursing students in the student's clinical area or area of expertise/interest.
