ABSN Onboarding & Orientation

From the point of acceptance, students will be guided through a robust onboarding and orientation process to prepare them to start the ABSN program.

Onboarding

If accepted to the Accelerated Bachelor’s in Nursing program, students must first confirm their intention to enroll with a $1,000 non-refundable deposit (applied toward tuition). We typically allow four weeks from the time of decision for students to make their commitment.

Once fully accepted into the program, students may access their Incoming Student Portal. The portal includes important information to prepare students for success in the fast-paced program, such as:

  • outstanding prerequisite requirements
  • compliance requirements (CPR certification, background check, etc.)
  • course registration & schedules
  • housing (if moving to Rochester, NY)
  • financial aid

In the months leading up to the program, students also have an opportunity to meet with future peers, advisors, and instructors virtually.

Orientation

The entire accelerated cohort comes together just before classes start for a mandatory on-site orientation. The four-day orientation typically takes place the week before classes start (see Academic Calendar). During orientation, students gain a full overview of the year ahead, meet faculty and students, and take part in guided training sessions to become familiar with campus and essential resources.

ABSN students also receive training for their iPad device. The iPad is fully-equipped with all apps, books, and materials students need throughout the program. The iPad is utilized in the ABSN program as part of the iROC initiative, which aims to revitalize the way we teach and better prepare students for a successful career in nursing.
