iPad Devices in the Lab and Clinical Settings

Electronic Documentation

Students use the iPad in the skills/simulation labs and in their clinical experiences to document electronic records, scan patient barcodes, review case studies, and participate in virtual simulations.

Electronic documentation and bar code scanning provides students an opportunity topractice documenting patient care activities, similar to how they would in the clinical environment. This practice helps them to prepare them in a safe and interactive format prior to attending clinical.

Lab Clinical iRoc

Virtual Simulations have been used to supplement clinical when needed but also as part of post conference or lab. The virtual simulations allow students to gain the same types of experiences as the clinical environment is often unpredictable. The simulations are also aligned with concepts being discussed in the classroom to reinforce concepts in a different way.
