Bio

Lavern Sleugh-Sharpe, MS, RN, is an Instructor of Clinical Nursing in the RN-BS Program at the University of Rochester School of Nursing (URSON). Her nursing career began 28 years prior in Jamaica where she completed her basic RN training. She has a strong personal commitment to the pursuit of the Quadruple AIM and the effort to ensure equity in the delivery of health care. She is a founding member of the Rochester Black Nurses Association (RBNA), a chapter of the National Black Nurses Association, and an active member of their Scholarships & Awards Committee, and Health Policy Committee. Lavern earned her nursing diploma from the Cornwall School of Nursing (Montego Bay, Jamaica) in 1994, Bachelor of Science degree in 2014 and a master’s in Leadership in Health Care Systems in 2021 from the University of Rochester School of Nursing.
